V roce 2013 se Delphine Boël začala soudit s belgickým králem Albertem II. o uznání otcovství. A v lednu tohoto roku po dlouhých letech sporů uznal král, že je biologickým otcem Delphine.

Dnes bruselský odvolací soud rozhodl, že Delphine jakožto dceři bývalého panovníka náleží titul princezny. A smí též používat příjmení svého otce - Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Titul prince a princezny náleží i jejím dvěma dětem. Delphine bude od dnešního dne známá jako:

Její královská výsost (HRH) belgická princezna Delphine de Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha.

I když Delphine obdržela titul princezny, místo v pořadí nástupnictví na trůn nezíská. Po smrti Alberta II. může v rámci dědictví získat část jeho osobního majetku.
